Upload an Image Wallpaper

Quick reference for publishing a single image straight from the desktop app. Walk through it interactively in the first image wallpaper tutorial.

Steps

  1. Open the settings window in the desktop app and choose Upload in the sidebar.
  2. Set the tab to New wallpaper.
  3. Click the file picker and select your image (.png, .jpg, .jpeg, .webp, or .gif).
  4. Fill in the form:
    • Slug: lowercase letters, digits, and hyphens. Cannot change later.
    • Name: display name shown in the store and gallery.
    • Version: 0.1.0 is fine for first release.
    • Description: optional.
    • Tags: for search and filtering. Press Enter or , to confirm each tag.
  5. Click Upload.

You're done when the progress bar reaches Done.

Recommendations

  • Resolution: images are scaled to fit the desktop. Provide 3840×2160 or higher for 4K displays.
  • File size: large images use more storage and bandwidth. Optimize before distributing.
  • Animated GIFs: supported, but mind file size for long loops.
